Knee pain

Caution: Please first refer to an orthopedist or your local hospital for deformation and pain surrounding the knee-bone area.
If the bone has no problems, you can solve knee pain by strengthening your muscles.

(1)The early stage where you can feel a light pain
You may feel discomfort in your knees or it has become harder to bend your knees.  That's the beginning of knee trouble.
The reason could be from aging, an aftereffect of an injury, an accident, the overuse of knees in sports or exhaustion from work (carrying heavy items) etc.
Gaining weight also puts stress on knees.

Knee pain will be eased by massaging the calf.
We guide you on how to massage the calf at our lecture classes or at our clinic during our massage.
You can also ease the pain by using a supporter made with fabric which improves blood circulation, such as Photoelectron.


(2)The winter type that hurts only during cold seasons
If you are the person who feels pain when it's cold due to the season or an air conditioner, you need a plan to not cool your body down and ease the pain.
First, try not to eat cooling foods such as, fresh vegetables in a cold season if you are easy to feel cold!
To eat vegetables, you should eat them as a soup, a stew or sauteed dishes as much as you can.
You can ease the pain by eating ginger (dried ginger is better), onion or other allium foods which will warm your body and by avoiding cooling foods as much as possible.
We also recommend the latest in thermal underwear or high socks.

First, try not to cool your body!
Second, don't push yourself.
Muscular strength can get weaker although you feel that you are still young.
Even though you think that the pain will lessen, it won't get better by doing nothing.
It's better if you could figure out the reason of what caused the pain.
For example, if you started feeling pain in your knees, back and feet after you started to wear a new pair of shoes, you can stop the pain from getting worse by not wearing the shoes.  You will hurt your body more if you keep wearing your new favorite shoes which is the source of the trouble.


Don't wear shoes which do not match your feet!
If you can't throw them away, you should wear them only for a short time on special occasions like a party.

The person who has cold feet.

We are often asked why "my feet often get sweaty" or "my feet are always sweating."

Basically hands and feet are easy to sweat.  It is said that animals that walked on four feet are the ancestors of modern day humans.  By sweating through our hands and feet, an animal stands firm and can have a tight grip as to not slip.

Now we are going to talk about human features.
The people who often sweat on their feet are likely to get cold feet easily.
When people’s feet start to sweat, because their feet are cold, the sweat is not going to dry up and stay wet.  This makes for a vicious circle and their feet will become even cooler because of the sweat.

People are also easy to feel cold and catch a cold when their toes are wet.


If your feet sweat easily, you should try these suggestions.

(1) Stop wearing shoes which make your feet sweaty easily.
Your feet get cold, once your feet get sweaty.  It's important to choose the right shoes for your feet.

You can prevent feeling cold by keeping your toes dry.

Eat allium or other foods which will warm your body, especially in the winter.

You can fix the cold feeling in your feet and stomach by wearing a band made from Firbest fiber, on your ankles.  This band comes in many different types so you can choose the best type fitting to your condition.  Wrist, ankle and neck is where the blood can be easily congested.  You can clearly improve your physical condition by taking care of these parts.

The cause of swelling

What causes swelling?
When you find that your socks have left an imprint around your legs, this means you are suffering from swelling.

Swelling will become worse if you keep doing things that makes your have poor blood circulation such as, using transportation for a long time or wearing shoes which don't match your feet.

The top of the foot, ankles and whole legs are the parts which can easily suffer from swelling.  Once your legs swell, you will feel your legs become heavier and you will feel more exhausted.  If you leave your legs swollen, they will become thicker.  For both health and beauty, we will show how to remove swelling efficiently.

Bunion

The situation may be different depending on the angle of your bunions, however if you easily have muscle cramps in the soles of your feet or feel pain in your toes, your body will be soothed by fixing your feet or toes as soon as possible.


If your big toe is deviating inward, at a 23 degree angle to be exact, you are suffering from bunions.

The reason why it's caused could stem from wearing shoes which don't match the width of your feet, playing a sport which puts a strain on the big toe, walking with bad posture, having a bad back, etc.

Some people have bunions congenitally.
Bunions do not only look bad, but also get worse if you don't treat them.

Apply cream after removing the dried skin on your feet
You should apply a cream called "Foot smooth gel", when your feet are terribly dry or cracked.  This cream is effective for chapped hands as well.  To rejuvenate your feet even more, we recommend to wrap your feet with cling film or a plastic bag for 2-3 minutes after you have applied the cream onto your feet.  It will make the cream penetrate into the skin of your feet.

However, it's still important to frequently remove the old skin on your feet to keep them looking beautiful.
Using bathing powder or an item which contains moisturizer is also effective!

The first-aid treatment for cracked heel
Tightly apply band aids horizontally.  Just by doing this, you won't feel pain when you're walking.
If the crack is deep, please talk to a foot care specialist.
The heel may be cracked by gaining weight as well.
It's easy to gain weight in winter, because the metabolic rate often slows down.
We recommend to check your weight sometimes.

What are feet appropriate for April?
The feet, which don't have exhaustion and roughness from winter are appropriate for this season.
Let's refresh your body starting from your feet!
If you refresh your feet, your mind also gets refreshed just like magic!
Relax by having a foot bath or regular bath by adding essential oils of fresh green or a woody fragrance (cedar wood, hinoki leaf or cypress).  We recommend Gaia Bath Essence.  Eating vegetables in season will also increases your vitality as well as make your feet healthy.  It will be even better to eat local fresh vegetables.  If you don't really like eating vegetables, try making drink by mixing fruit and vegetables.

Let's take care of the soles of the feet.  Since legs are easy to swell at the turn of the season, it's better to frequently remove exhaustion from our feet.

Having a bath partly, like a foot bath is effective to get rid of swelling.
Pour hot water which is 40 or 41 degrees Celsius into a deep bowl and add a pinch of salt (just like cooking)!

(Caution) Please avoid having a foot bath if you have an injury on your feet.  A foot bath will increase the pain from the injury.
You will feel refreshed by having a foot bath for around 5-10 minutes.
Remove the old skin on the heel or the sole of the foot with special equipment which removes the dried skin.
The old skin could cause the reproduction of athlete's foot.  The more frequently you remove old skin, the better you can get rid of swelling.


July
Stimulate the arch of the foot in this season when you easily lose your appetite!
Air conditioning make your feel more tired.
To recover from "cooling disorder", which the internal organs are easy to become cold, stimulate the arch of the foot with a golf ball or a tube of cling film.  Massage the arch of the foot by moving your feet back and forth onto a ball or a tube for 1-2 minutes.


To keep your feet from being sweaty, getting heat rash or athlete's foot, we recommend to wear toe socks.  (It will keep your feet feeling refreshed.)


August
Are you consuming extra enegry because of this hot and humid season which is hard to even get a good night's sleep?
The best thing to get over this summer heat fatigue is in season summer vegetables.  Let's eat a salad or sunomono!


Cold ramen (noodle soup) with lots of vegetables will stimulate your appetite!
(You can add lettuce, cucumber, radish sprouts, cabbage or whatever you want.)
If you still don't have an appetite, try making a drink with vegetables.  You can enjoy drinking it by adding a frozen banana.

After eating vegetables, now let's take care of your feet.
First, stimulate the arch of the foot just like you did in July to assist your stomach condition.
If you have a foot bath in this month, we recommend to add pepper mint essential oil.  It really feels cool.
To enjoy it, pour hot water (around 38-40 degrees Celsius) into a deep bowl and add 3 or 4 drops of pepper mint essential oil.

A foot bath with essential oils has an anti-bacterial effect.  Enjoy the fragrance and relaxed feeling.

Sapporo will becoming cooler by this time, however, people who live in other southern areas must be still suffering from the late summer heat.

Nobody likes intense heat, however, summer is the most effective season for a foot massage because the metabolic rate will be increase from sweating.

The better metabolic rate we get, the more old skin we get.
Wash your entire foot with soap where it’s easy to forget to wash.
